Winchester Wharves Management Company appointed CWA to design and install 10 balconies to the apartments of this Grade II Listed building. The Language of the design had to carefully respond to the timber loading flaps and winch doors that characterise this former Victorian warehouse. Strict planning requirements ensured that the balcony design was as unobtrusive to its context as possible, with no loss of visual impact of the building from the River Thames.
CWA’s reputation for attention to detail can be seen with this frameless non-reflective glass balustrade incorporating lightweight steel and timber frames held off the existing masonry with stainless steel tie rods.
Balconies are to be installed in spring 2010.
