Ledbury Road penthouse is a 900 sqft conversion of a Victorian town house in a Notting Hill Conservation Area.
By inverting the traditional mode of ‘going upstairs to bed’, fifty percent of the floor space of this maisonette was dedicated social - living space. In addition to this, consent to demolish the traditional dormer window to the front façade and replace it with a sliding/folding door, created a winter garden in the living room with magnificent views of the setting sun.
Stringent fire regulations were circumvented by a descending escape route allowing the staircase to be opened up, eliminating fire doors and allowing natural light to imbue the lower level landings from above.
