Work commenced on this extensive renovation project in early February 2009. Originally a stately family home, this double fronted, detached Victorian residence had fallen into disrepair, most recently operating as nine bedsits.
Whilst the front façade has been delicately restored, a dramatic double-height void has been carved through the internal fabric of the house, linking the internal rooms with the garden beyond.
In contrast to the street façade, the contemporary rear extension is formed in sculptural brickwork. This accommodates generous kitchen and living spaces at ground level and allows light to penetrate deep into the home. At first floor level, this design allows expansive views over the garden from the first floor bedroom.
